Sargasso = Sale.

Sargassum is a naturally occurring seaweed that drifts through the Caribbean during the warmer months, with conditions varying daily based on winds, currents, and weather. While our team works hard to keep the beach comfortable, nature ultimately sets the rhythm.

Europe is crowded.

The Hamptons are full of traffic.

Tulum is free of crowds, at a great rate and a short flight.

Family Package — FAQ

The package is designed for families with children aged 5 and older. Spanish classes and fitness sessions are adapted for younger children. The cenote tour is recommended for confident swimmers aged 6 and up — life vests are always available. The Mayan Ruins tour is suitable for all ages.

Classes are structured by level so beginners, intermediate and advanced speakers are grouped separately. Children and adults can be in the same group or different groups depending on ages and levels.

When sargassum is present on the beach, our cenote on property provides a beautiful, clean freshwater alternative for swimming. We are always transparent about beach conditions and have a plan B.

Yes. Amansala's kitchen has 20+ years of experience preparing food for guests with dietary needs including vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free. Please inform us of any requirements at the time of booking.

Absolutely. Tasks are age-appropriate — younger children help with simple preparations like mixing and garnishing, while older children work with more complex techniques.

Excursions operate as small-group experiences. Depending on availability your family may share excursions with other Amansala guests. Private excursions can be arranged for an additional fee.

The Gran Cenote is approximately 15 minutes by car from Amansala. Transportation is arranged as part of the excursion. We recommend early morning visits when the light is most spectacular and crowds are minimal.

Yes. All experiences are available individually. However the Family Immersion Package offers the best value with 10% off when you book everything together.

Swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen (required — chemical sunscreens are prohibited in cenotes), water shoes or sandals, and a towel. Snorkeling equipment and life vests are provided.

Yes, for children aged 6 and older. The clay is 100% natural mineral clay sourced from local cenotes. It is applied to skin, allowed to dry in the sun, and rinsed in the sea.

Absolutely. We have hosted many solo parents with children and multi-generational family groups and adapt all experiences accordingly.

tulum,before it was tulum

Amansala was founded in 2004 by Melissa Perlman on a stretch of beachfront that most people hadn’t heard of yet. Twenty years later, we’re still here. Same beach. Same belief that transformation doesn’t require a spa menu that reads like a pharma catalog.
